Alfred Lewis Levitt was a victim of the Hollywood Blacklist during the 1950s, which adversely affected many people in Hollywood, and screenwriters in particular. Levitt's statement to the House Un-American Activities Committee embodies the sentiments of many people of the time who saw the investigations of Hollywood activity as unconstitutional. He prepared this statement but was not allowed to read it into the record.
