Quantum Information Processing and Metrology Using Spins In Solids

  • 01:01:49

Description

Spin quantum bits (qubits) encode quantum information in the spin state of a single or few electrons confined to a small spatial dimension. The weak coupling of the spin to its environment makes such qubits a promising platform for quantum information processing. While the solid environment is ultimately responsible for the loss of coherence of such qubits, it simultaneously provides unique possibilities for fast manipulation and control with promising applications in metrology with unprecedented sensitivities and spatial resolution.
