Biographical / Historical

Kenneth Burke, well-known as a twentieth-century literary critic and philosopher of language, was especially influential in areas of rhetorical, cultural, and communication studies.

Scope and Contents

The collection consists of two letters (and a copy of one letter, annotated differently) from Burke to Carol Sams discussing approaches to editing the typescript, "Toward Looking Back," and the typescript, with four addenda, which he submitted for publication to her as assistant editor of The Journal of General Education.
