The Aquavision Records (1986-1997) include bylaws, correspondence, and publications by Aquavision, a community action group concerned with water conservation in Southern Nevada's Las Vegas Valley. The collection spans 1986 to 1997. The records show Aquavision’s activities, including its public information campaigns, awards for water conservation, and newsletters.

Scope and Contents Note

The Aquavision Records include bylaws, correspondence, and publications by Aquavision, a community action group concerned with water conservation in Southern Nevada's Las Vegas Valley. The records contain Aquavision documents from 1986-1997. They include copies of the bylaws, membership rosters, minutes and agendas of meetings, correspondence, and the records of the Landscape Awards Committee, 1992-1997. It also includes documents for the organization’s dissolution in 1997. Also included are publications by Aquavision and related publications from other organizations, as well as the files and notes of Dusty Dickens, an honorary Board of Trustees member.

Biographical / Historical Note

Aquavision was formed in the late 1980s as a community action group concerned with issues of water conservation in the Las Vegas Valley. Aquavision sponsored forums, membership luncheons and issued newsletters to provide information to the public about water conservation issues. Aquavision also sponsored an annual Landscape Award to recognize the best water-efficient landscapes in Southern Nevada's Las Vegas Valley in residential, commercial and public settings. The membership of Aquavision voted to dissolve the organization on August 26, 1997.

Acquisition Note

Donated in 1998 by Joy Mandekic, Secretary of Aquavision, through the offices of Russel Kost III of the UNLV Foundation and member of the Board of Trustees of Aquavision. Accession number 1999-18.

Processing Note

Material was processed by Special Collections staff in 1999. In 2014, as part of a legacy finding aid conversion project, Lindsay Oden revised and enhanced the collection description to bring it into compliance with current professional standards.
