Overall metal with black matte painted finish. Compass rose on top displays 360 degrees in one degree increments. Locking bracket and screw for compassrose has white heading marker. On/off knob on left side. Wind arm on the right side with two stops. Bottom cover has molded protruding handle and small metal spring holds cover closed. Interior has timing mechanism with two rollers for paper. The supply roll has paper marked for drift recording. Take-up roll has a spring arm and pointer for marking the paper. Base is held to the body by five countersunk screws. Base has four mounting holds and a circular alignment ring.
