This G3-C spacesuit was made for and worn by Virgil "Gus" Grissom on the first of the manned Gemini missions Gemini 3, on March 23rd, 1965. The 3-orbit mission lasted five hours during which time the astronauts tested the maneuverability of the spacecraft.

The suit consisted of five major assemblies, the main torso, helmet, boots, gloves and neck seal. Additionally, he wore a constant wear garment and life vest assembly. The suit permitted freedom of movement, and was equipped with communication and bio-medical transmission equipment.

The suit and components were transferred to the National Air and Space Museum from the Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston in 1968.
