This spacesuit was constructed by the David Clark Company for the U.S. Air Force's MOL (Manned Orbiting Laboratory) program in the early 1960s. The MOL program was an Air Force intelligence-gathering program that never became operational. The suit was given the designation G4-C by NASA, with whom the Air Force was cooperating, as the suit was manufactured by the same company and used the same specifications as the Gemini G4-C suit.
The spacesuit was developed by NASA's Manned Spaceflight Center, Crew Systems Division, and designed and constructed by the David Clark Company of Worcester, Massachusetts, incorporating B.F. Goodrich helmet and gloves. NASA transferred the suit and its components to the museum in 1973.
