This is a model of unknown scale of the U.S. Army SAM-D (Surface-to-Air Missile, Development), which Raytheon began developing in 1964. Successful testing of the missile led to the decision in 1976 to begin full-scale development, and later that year the system was renamed the Patriot Air Defense Missile System (PADMS). Beginning in 1986, improvements were made to the Patriot which enabled it to be used as an antitactical missile missile. This version of the missile, the Patriot Advanced Capability-2 (PAC-2), was deployed to Saudi Arabia, Israel, and Turkey during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. The model's manufacturer is unknown.
