This spacesuit was constructed by the David Clark Company for the US Air Force's MOL (Manned Orbiting Laboratory) program in the early 1960s. The MOL program was an Air Force intelligence-gathering program that never became operational. Originally conceived as a stand alone program, by the 1960s the Air Force considered using NASA's Gemini hardware for the program. NASA gave this suit the designation G4-C when they were cooperating with the Air Force on the program. David Clark manufactured the suit, using the same specifications as the Gemini G4-C suit.

The suit is in the EV (Extra-Vehicular) configuration, and is composed of 21 layers, (including the cotton undergarment).

The spacesuit was developed by NASA's Manned Spaceflight Center, Crew Systems Division, and designed and constructed by the David Clark Company of Worcester, Massachusetts, incorporating B.F. Goodrich helmet and gloves.

NASA transferred the suit to the museum in 1975.
