Object Details
Type ART-Miscellaneous Medium Box, Snuff Physical Description Small, round ivory snuff box. Lid is decorated with a balloon scene in the center. The balloon is of the Blanchard type with a parachute between the basket and the balloon and oars for rowing through the air. Scene appears to be reverse cut and painted into the glass, and then lined with blue silk. The scene is framed in a copper alloy and set into the lid. The interior of the box is lined with tortoise shell. Dimensions Overall (Dia. x W): 6.4 × 1.6cm (2 1/2 × 5/8 in.)
