This digital thermometer readout is part of the test equipment kit from the backup Skylab Orbital Workshop that is displayed in the Museum. It would have been used with the digital thermometer probe, also in the kit. Skylab was a U.S. space station launched into low Earth orbit in May 1973. Three different three-man crews occupied the orbital laboratory until February 1974. Skylab was equipped with several tool kits and devices for in-flight maintenance tasks, as well as scientific instruments for a variety of research projects.

NASA transferred this thermometer to the Museum in 1975.
