This is a spacesuit that astronaut Ed White wore in preparation for his historic Gemini 4 spacewalk in March 1965. The particular suit is designated a G-3C, which means that it was the third version of the spacesuit that the David Clark Company submitted to NASA for use in the Gemini program. This spacesuit was made at the beginning of 1965. As a result, this suit resembles the suit that white wore during his spacewalk very closely. The suit has the white, high-temperature nylon coverlayer that NASA first used for the Gemini program. The reflectivity of the coverlayer and multiple layers underneath were included to protect the astronaut from wide fluctuations in temperature and solar radiation. Some of the connections and gauges have been removed from this suit. The boots were detached before the suit became part of the museum's collection.

NASA transferred this spacesuit to the Museum in 1972.
