Collection history unknown; said to have been owned by a Mrs. Marsh (Mohegan), but more likely from the collection of Frances Ann Marsh (1828-1911, daughter of a non-Indian minister); given to a neighbor, Alice Clinton Dyer (1855-1923), at an unknown date; sold by Mrs. Dyer to a dealer in Norwich, Connecticut, at an unknown date, who in turn sold it to William Royal Secord (1891-1932); purchased by MAI from William R. Secord in 1921 using funds donated by Thea (Mrs. George) Heye.
