Formerly owned by Mack Pemma (Forest County Potawatomi, ca. 1876-ca. 1940); collected from him by Indian art collector David T. Vernon (1900-1973) at an unknown date; acquired by MAI in 1968 through an exchange with the Jackson Hole Preserve, Inc. (a foundation backed by the Rockefeller family), which purchased Vernon's entire collection in 1965.
