Collection History
Excavated in 1898 by local residents during work on a drain; purchased from them soon afterward by Nicholas A. Ribadenyra of Guayaquil, Ecuador; purchased by Marshall H. Saville (1867-1935, MAI staff member) from Nicholas Ribadenyra in 1906 during the First Ecuador Expedition, led by Marshall Saville and sponsored by George Heye's mother, Marie Antoinette Lawrence Heye (1845-1915).
