Collection history unknown; said to have been owned by Chief Yellowhammer (Benjamin Lawver, Oklahoma Modoc, 1850-1915); subsequently in the collection of Dr. William Clark Barnard, 1870-1945); acquired through an exchange with Dr. Barnard in 1909 facilitated by anthropologist Mark Raymond Harrington (1882-1971, MAI staff member) during fieldwork sponsored by George Heye.
