Purchased from local "Tuckapaw" Indians between 1882 and 1886 by Edward Leverich (1839-1886), then the owner of Oak Lawn Plantation (now Oaklawn Manor, outside Franklin, Louisiana); inherited by his widow, Anna S. Leverich (Anna Fredericka Schuchardt, 1851-1918), and subsequently by their daughter, Margaret Duncan Leverich (1876-1963); donated to MAI by Margaret D. Leverich in 1959.
