Said to have been collected in 1825 by explorer Sir John Franklin (1786-1847); inherited by his wife Lady Jane Franklin (1791-1875); inherited by Lady Franklin’s niece Sophia Cracroft (1816-1892), who accompanied her on her travels; acquired by William Ockleford Oldman (1879-1949, who did business as "W.O. Oldman, Ethnographical Specimens, London") in 1911 from Miss LeFroy (a niece of Sophia Cracroft’s); purchased by George Heye from W.O. Oldman in 1912.
