Formerly owned by William Spotted Tail (Sicangu Lakota, 1863-1931); given by him to William Ghost Dog in February 1931; purchased by Ray O. Lyon (1885-1961, owner of the Lyon Curio Store in Clinton, Nebraska) from William Ghost Dog in March 1931; acquired by Dan Frost (1850-1943, proprietor of Stephen A. Frost and Son, a New York City Indian goods company and a collector of beads and Indian artifacts) from Ray Lyon soon afterward; purchased by MAI from Dan Frost in 1931.
