Thomas Knudtson served as a senior Artist-in-Residence for a program sponsored by the Chicago council of Fine Arts in the 1970s. He presided over a team of writers charged with writing about Chicago's art and cultural history including the role of W.P.A. artists, the development of O'Hare International Airport, and other miscellaneous activities on behalf of Chicago City Offices.
