This collection contains a large number of small collections from multiple accessions. These include small manuscripts, ephemera, memorabilia, written reports, publications, and other items or documents.
The series are organized into topical groupings. The files are organized alphabetically in each series. Because new items are periodically added to the collection, the box and folder numbers may not be sequential, and in some series, no box or folder number has been assigned. In those cases, researchers should request a folder by folder title. In general researchers should pay attention to a file's specific box number, folder number, and title when requesting materials from this collection.
Some of the items are facsimiles or reproductions of originals, and their actual date of creation may be unknown or may not have been ascertained. The dates provided in this finding aid are intended to convey the general range of dates, but they are not comprehensive. When a file includes items of unknown dates or multiple date ranges, its dates are marked "undated" or "various dates and undated."
Most of the materials in this collection pertain to the United States. However, the collection also has materials that pertain to other countries.
Researchers may also be interested in our other "small collections," especially the Small Collections--Chicago. See the finding aid for that collection for more information.

In her time, Christine J. Bolander-Olson had been a bathing beauty, photographer's model, dancer, singer, vaudeville performer, and a Miss Century of Progress selection of 1934. She was selected First Miss Television in the World's Fair Century of Progress in 1934. She appeared in the Fair's Spanish Pavilion where she sang songs in Spanish and danced. She had also taught ballet, dance and modeling, and modeled for commercial photographers. She created nine productions, and appeared in one of them. When she was twenty-five, she married Ralph B. Olson, who was an entertainment columnist for many years before he became an advertising executive. After she married, she left her show business career. In her later years, she grew interested in evangelism, particularly the Pentecostal movement.
