The Lake Michigan Federation was formed in 1970 as a result of a 1969 conference of conservationists from Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan. The organization's mission is "to restore fish and wildlife habitat, conserve land and water, and eliminate pollution in the watershed of America's largest lake." The Lake Michigan Federation seeks to accomplish this by conducting studies, educating the public, and advocating for legislation that promotes water quality, water conservation, habitat recovery, and clean energy.
This collection contains correspondence, minutes, reports, proceedings, annual reports, pamphlets, photographs, and clippings. The materials pertain to water quality, lake diversion, oil drilling, fishing, nuclear energy, pollution, and the administration of the Lake Michigan Federation.
