Show moreCOCONet is a project aimed at infusing large-scale, state of the art infrastructure into the Caribbean, forming the backbone for a broad range of geoscience investigations and enabling research on process-oriented science questions with direct relevance to atmospheric and tectonic geohazards. The observational infrastructure will serve as a regional platform for more focused topical geophysics studies by members of an international community of scientists. COCONet will install 50 new continuous GNSS (cGNSS) and meteorology stations in the Caribbean and Central America and include another 50 existing cGNSS stations already operating in the region. Atmospheric data products that COCONet will provide include surface measurements of pressure, temperature, horizontal winds, precipitation, and total column water vapor. A summary of year one activities along with examples of data products and potential applications will be provided. Show less
