Most solar physicists are convinced the seat of the dynamo is the solar convection zone, as well as perhaps the layers immediately above and below it. While the solar corona is profoundly influenced by the magnetic field reaching up from below, its direct contribution to the origin and maintenance of those fields is probably negligible. Show less
