Show moreGlobal environmental concerns have become more common as governments and citizens alike become better educated with the issues that relate political discussions with scientific interests and understanding. Increases in biologically active ultraviolet B (UV-B) radiation due to reductions in stratospheric ozone exemplify such socially relevant yet complex issues. Assessments of the risks associated with UV-B increases must rely on a spectrum of disciplines including meteorology, atmospheric chemistry, and photobiology, each with uncertainties that should be understood.
