They are intended to guide scientists in making effective use of NCAR aircraft. The purpose of this bulletin is to acquaint prospective users with the capabilities of the NCAR/NSF WB-57F. The WB-57F aircraft is a stratospheric research aircraft that would bring a very important and essentially unique capability to sample the upper region of the troposphere and well into the lower stratosphere. This aircraft should be able to address three critical research areas for the US Global Change Research Program, such as the cirrus cloud properties and radiative effects, tropospheric/stratspheric exchanges of water vapor and ozone, and the spacial distribution and properties of tropospheric and stratospheric aerosols and chemicals. Includes figures and tables detailing the aircraft's specifications and instrumentation. Show less
