The talk is divided into 6 sections: (1) definitions, (2) the bottom boundary and surface fluxes, (3) time and space variability, (4) mesoscale variability in fair weather, (5) the interaction of 'active' cumuli with the subcloud layer, and (6) the disturbed boundary layer over the ocean. The disturbed boundary layer refers to one affected by precipitating convection and should be an active area of research in the years to come. Show less
