Show moreIn this study, we present simultaneous multi-point observations of whistler-mode chorus waves/ULF waves, associated with concurrent energetic electron precipitation observed through enhanced BARREL X-rays. Similar fluctuations on a time scale of several to ~10s minutes are observed in signature of X-rays and the compressional component of ULF waves. Spatial scale of ULF modulation spans from 4 to 12 and L spans from 5 to 11. ULF waves, which has been suggested to play a potential role in precipitating energetic electrons by either wave or loss cone modulation, shows high correlation with enhancement in X-rays. However, the correlation coefficient between whistler-mode waves and X-rays is low. Observations and model results show that ULF waves could play a significant role in modulating the electron precipitation even though the whistler wave intensity is not fully modulated by ULF waves.
