Scientists and technicians gathered at Jefferson County Airport, prior to their departure on the NSF/NCAR C-130 research aircraft for the first Aerosol Characterization Experiment (ACE-1). Conducted in November-December 1995, this international field project investigated the properties of aerosols and the processes that control them in the remote marine atmosphere south of Australia.
