Show moreThis article describes research being conducted by the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) on the development of a vehicle data translator (VDT). The objective of a VDT is to collect, quality check and disseminate vehicle-based weather and road condition data. Additionally, a VDT is designed to incorporate vehicle-based measurements of the road and surrounding atmosphere with other more traditional weather data sources. The article discusses how a VDT processes and generates the observations it has derived. Show less
