Adelie penguins on Torgersen Island near the Palmer Station. This species is common all along the coast of Antarctica. Adelies stand about 18 to 30 inches tall and weigh 8 to 9 pounds. They can be identified by white rings around their eyes, beaks mostly covered by feathers, and longer than usual tails. They hunt krill, fish, and squid.
