Show moreThis report is part of a series prepared for the Materials Research Project of the NCAR Scientific Balloon Facility in order to extend the reliability and capabilities of scientific ballooning. This test program was initiated early in 1963 as a survey of current and prospective materials that might be suitable as the barrier and/or structure for high altitude balloons. This report documents some opportunities for improvement of balloon material performance and discounts the prospects for a number of alternative materials. Show less
