Picker, Richard, 1915-1983

Richard Picker (1915-1983), a collector and dealer in colonial and early American coins, was born in New York City, received a B.A. from New York University in 1938, and served in the Army during World War II. He published articles in The Colonial Newsletter and was the author of "Variations of the Die Varieties of Massachusetts Oak and Pine Tree Coinage," published in Studies on Money in Early America (1976). He became an associate member of the American Numismatic Society in 1953 and was a founding member of the Long Island Coin Club. After his death, his collections, including a non-colonial collection of brockages, were sold off in several auctions during the 1980s and 1990s.
