Riverdale Neighborhood House (Riverdale, N.Y.)

In 1872, Grace Dodge founded a library which in 1883 became known as the Riverdale Library Association. In 1921, it merged with the Riverdale Neighborhood Association to become the Riverdale Neighborhood and Library Association. This organization later became Riverdale Neighborhood House. It ran various social services, including a day camp, a swimming pool, a food co-op, a thrift shop, various classes and youth programs, daycare and after-school centers and a library; the library was given up in the 1960s.
