Emperor Taishō (Personal Name: Yoshihito, b. 31 August 1879, Tokyo, Japan-d. 25 December 1926, Hayama, Japan) was the 123 Emperor of Japan, reigning from 1912-1926. He married Kujō Sadako in 1900 and had 4 children. He succeeded his father, Emperor Meiji in 1912 Having always suffered from ill health, he was not a charismatic ruler and eventually appointed his son, Prince Hirohito, regent in 1921. He is considered the first Tokyo emperor since first to live in Tokyo, not Kyoto.
