Jones, Elbert P.

Dr. Elbert P. Jones, early San Francisco lawyer, was a native of Kentucky who came to California in 1847. He was the first editor of the California star and was elected to the San Francisco town council in 1847. Jones became the proprietor of Portsmouth House in San Francisco and was a prominent investor in real estate in the city.
