David McNeely Stauffer was an engineer, author, and antiquarian who devoted much of his time to collecting letters, manuscripts, drawings, etc. and studying printers and engravers. He was the author of American Engravers Upon Copper and Steel, 1907.

David McNeely Stauffer (1845-1913) was an American civil engineer, editor, artist, and collector. He worked for several railroads including the Philadelphia and Reading Railroad until 1876 when he went into private practice. He wrote scholarly articles and edited the Engineering News. In addition to collecting autographs and illustrations, he designed book plates and did pen and ink drawings.
