  • 1944 - 1946 : War correspondent, European, Mediterranean, and Middle East theaters
  • 1947: Only woman correspondent to travel with President Harry S. Truman to Brazil and, in spite of her protests, was excluded from joining the rest of the party on the return trip aboard a battleship due to lack of facilities for women.
