American pianist, composer, teacher, author, and radio broadcaster.

Born in 1903 in New York City, Abram Chasins studied at the Juilliard School, the Curtis Institute, and Columbia University. His major teachers included Ernest Hutcheson and Josef Hofmann. From 1926 to 1935 he taught at Curtis, and beginning in 1935 he performed and recorded as a soloist and recitalist and as a duo-pianist with Constance Keene. As a protege of Josef Hofmann, Chasins attained an international reputation in his early 20's as a pianist and composer. He retired from performing in 1946 on assuming musical directorship of radio station WQXR in New York City. Chasins and Constance Keene were married in 1949. Books by Chasins include Speaking of Pianists, 1957; The Van Cliburn Legend, 1959; The Appreciation of Music, 1966; Music at the Crossroads, 1972; and Leopold Stokowski: A Profile, 1979. He served as Musician-in-Residence at the University of Southern California, where he transformed USC's campus radio, KUSC, into a nationally prominent cultural station. Chasins died in 1987.
