Princess Charlotte was the only child of King George IV of Great Britain and Caroline of Brunswick. She was doted on by her grandfather King George III. After attempts to betroth her to other European princes, she married Leopold of Saxe-Coburg, afterwards King of the Belgians. The marriage of one and a half-years ended when Charlotte died giving birth to a stillborn child.
