Archibald Forbes was a British author, perhaps most famous as a war correspondent. After graduating from Aberdeen University, he enlisted in the Royal Dragoons, but subsequently left the service and became a journalist. He covered various wars with great success and acclaim, and was noted for both the quality of his writing and his ingenuity at acquiring and transmitting intelligence. He later lectured widely about his war experiences, and also wrote novels, memoirs, and non-fiction studies of war.
