The Illinois Women's Political Caucus is the state branch of the National Women's Political Caucus, a nonpartisan group formed in 1971 to promote and support women candidates for political office in the United States. The Illinois Women's Political Caucus (IWPC) held its first state convention in Macomb, Illinois in October 1975. The IWPC and other branches of the national organization have also worked to identify, screen, and promote women for appointed public offices since 1976, especially important policy making posts.
The Illinois Women's Political Caucus Collection includes correspondence, candidate lists, memoranda, administrative materials, clippings, and by-laws. Much of the collection consists of workshop materials and membership kits from the first IWPC state convention held in 1975.
