James Axeman was born in Rochester, New York in 1932. He attended Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania and the Institute of Design in Chicago. From 1955-1965 he held the position of graphic designer at several major firms including Sears Roebuck. Beginning in 1965 he held the position of graphic arts designer for publications services at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He held this position until his death in 1983. His own work has been widely exhibited in group and one-person shows.
This collection consists of one box containing materials related to the artist and designer James Axeman. Included in the materials are a slide presentation, a guidebook for the slide presentation, an exhibit catalog, and some UIC materials designed by Axeman.
