George writes to his cousin Emma to update her on himself and his family. He expresses a desire to return to the army but mentions that his parent do not approve of that plan. He also advises that Emma's brother Willard (Will) should not enlist. He asks Emma to send a portrait photograph of herself and he will do the same.
