Scope and Content

This collection (2001-ongoing) contains transcripts of oral history interviews conducted by the staff of the Iowa State University Library Special Collections and University Archives and other individuals affiliated with Iowa State University. The interviewees consist of a selection of Iowa State administrators, faculty, staff, and former students discussing their experiences at Iowa State. Where noted, a CD copy of the interview is included with the transcript.

Biography/Profile

Iowa State University, founded on March 22, 1858, marked the sesquicentennial anniversary (150th year) of its founding with a year-long, university-wide celebration. Starting with kick-off events held during VEISHEA 2007, the celebration continued throughout the following twelve months, culminating with concluding ceremonies held during VEISHEA 2008.



The Iowa State University Library Special Collections and University Archives initiated an oral history project leading up to and coinciding with the sesquicentennial celebration. Members of the staff, along with other individuals affiliated with Iowa State University, conducted interviews with Iowa State administrators, faculty, staff, and former students discussing their experiences at Iowa State.
