A scrapbook containing photographs, notes, maps, propaganda, newspaper clippings, and postcards from J. Brownlee Davidson's trip to the Soviet Union in 1929 and a visit of Russian colleagues to Iowa State University in the summer of 1930. The materials document Davidson's work as a member of the American Biro-Bidjan Commission, and feature agricultural practices and machinery, rural and urban life, travel modes, and prominent landmarks.
A collection of Jay Brownlee Davidson's photographs taken during an International Harvester sponsored trip to China from 1947-1949 to introduce agricultural engineering to the Chinese. A pamphlet, "Committee on Agricultural Engineering for China," is included in the collection and describes the purpose of this committee and Dr. Davidson's appointment as chair. The date 1944 is hand-written on the cover of the pamphlet.
