Scope and Content

This (1950-2015) collection contains annual meeting programs, committee meeting correspondence and minutes, financial records, published materials, newsletters, directories, and oral history transcripts.



These records were created by the National Association of Teacher Educators for Vocational Home Economics (NATEVHE), but include information concerning other groups affiliated with the National Vocational Association such as the National Association Teachers of Family and Consumer Sciences (NATFACS). The collection for the National Association of Vocational Home Economics Teachers (NATEVHE/NAVHET) includes programs, minutes, and information about annual meetings (1969-1993), committee correspondence and minutes, financial records, and newsletters, and handbooks comprise the majority of the records. The committees documented include Ad hoc, Awards, Evaluation, History, Legislative, Membership, Newsletter, Nominating, Policy and Planning, and Recorder Committees. In the early 1980s the U.S. Congress was involved in reauthorizing the Vocational Act of 1963 and the Legislative Committee files illustrate the role of home economics teachers across the United States attempting to communicate to Congress their goals and needs.
