JEWISH FEDERATION OF LAS VEGAS THE FEDERATION AND ITS FAMILY OF AGENCIES PROVIDE SUPPORT WHEN IT IS NEEDED FOR EVERY STAGE OF LIFE AND SETS OUT TO ADDRESS THE FULL SPECTRUM OF HUMAN NEEDS. WE ARE A YOUNG COUPLE WITH CHILDREN AND ARE NEW TO THE AREA. WHAT SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE TO US THROUGH THE JEWISH FEDERATION AND ITS LOCAL AGENCIES? More and more young families have moved into the Las Vegas area and the Jewish Federation is ready to meet the challenges of this growing population. Among the programs offered are: ? Day care and pre-schools for children at local synagogues; accredited Jewish Day schools; programs for toddlers, young adults and teens. ? Social programs where young Jews can meet other young Jews while learning how to become involved in the local Jewish community through Federation's Leadership Development. ? Networking through the Business and Professionals Groups of the Jewish Federation. ? Social and educational programs offered through the Jewish Federation. I AM AN ELDERLY PERSON AND I HAVE MOVED HERE WITHOUT MY FAMILY. HOW CAN THE JEWISH FEDERATION HELP ME? Many older persons who retired to Las Vegas do not have the support groups they once had. Among the many programs available for our seniors are: ? Senior Day Care, Home-Sharing and Housing Options, Counseling through the Jewish Family Service Agency. ? Social groups sponsored by local synagogues. ? Support groups through the JFSA. HOW CAN THE JEWISH FEDERATION HELP MY FAMILY DEAL WITH PROBLEMS SUCH AS DIVORCE, INTER-MARRIAGE AND LOSS OF EXTENDED FAMILY SUPPORT SYSTEMS? These are some of the most difficult problems facing Jewish families today and can lead to family dissolution or loss of Jewish identity. The Jewish Federation through its agencies offers a variety of programs and services to help families cope: ? Counseling for family problems ? Single parent family support systems ? Jewish family life education ? Day care programs for working parents ? Career counseling I AM CONCERNED ABOUT MY CHILD RECEIVING A QUALITY JEWISH EDUCATION. WHAT TYPES OF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS ARE AVAILABLE IN THIS COMMUNITY? From pre-school to college student, the Jewish Federation and its agencies provide a variety of educational programs. We know that an investment in the highest quality Jewish education programs and our ability to provide social opportunities for our youth are priorities for concerned parents and crucial for Jewish survival. With assistance from the Jewish Federation, the community offers the following services: ? Quality, licensed pre-schools ? Day schools ? Las Vegas Hebrew High ? Religious School Programs conducted by the synagogues ? Jewish Studies Programs, clubs and forums for teens ? Jewish camp experiences ? Scholarships for teen travel to Israel ? Programs at UNLV ? Holocaust Education in the Public Schools MY PARENTS HAVE REALLY AGED IN THE PAST YEAR AND CANNOT TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES. DOES THE JEWISH FEDERATION PROVIDE ANY SERVICES TO HELP CARE FOR THEM? Your parents are not alone. Approximately 25% of the Jewish population in Las Vegas is 65 years of age or older. In order to meet the needs of this segment of our population, the Jewish Federation, through its agencies, provides quality programs and services for the aging and infirm. Some of these services include: Geriatric Counselling Referral to all service agencies in Las Vegas ? Assessment and Evaluation Home sharing and housing referrals Home-bound visitations Discussion groups and seminars MY TEENAGERS ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR SOCIAL ACTIVITIES AND NEW FRIENDS. I WANT THEM TO BE INVOLVED WITH OTHER JEWISH YOUNG PEOPLE. WHAT DOES THE JEWISH FEDERATION PROVIDE FOR THESE KIDS? The Jewish Federation has made it a priority to provide more opportunities for Jewish youth to spend time together developing close personal relationships with other Jews and learning more about Judaism. Some of the programs and services the Jewish Federation provides for teenagers are: ? Teen programs through area synagogues ? Programs for teens in Israel ? Las Vegas Maccabi Club ? Temple Youth Groups ? Las Vegas Hebrew High AS A SINGLE PERSON WHERE CAN I GO TO MEET OTHER JEWISH SINGLES? Singles of all ages have the opportunity to meet through programs provided by the Jewish Federation. A wide variety of activities are offered through groups which include: ? Leadership Development ?
