Biographical / Historical Note

Mary Jane Griffith Reiter came from a pioneer Las Vegas family. Her grandfather, E.W. Griffith came to Las Vegas with his son, Robert, in 1905 and opened a contracting and construction company. She was born on August 21, 1925 to Robert and Ruth (Atcheson) Griffith and attended Las Vegas Grammar School and Las Vegas High School. She graduated from the University of Southern California. Her grandfather named Maryjane Falls at Mount Charleston outside of Las Vegas for her. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and traveling. She passed away on July 11, 1994.
