Las Vegas - June 10, 1942 W 23-3-5 Mr. C. P. Massie, Army Project Manager, 500 North 11th street, Las Vegas, Nevada. Dear Mr. Massie; We have, from time to time, received complaints from city officials and residents adjoining the Army housing project, regarding the nuisance created by water wasted from the Kelso-Turner Terrace. Inspection this morning developed a stream running in ditch on the north side of the project and a similar stream on the south side, all of which runs down to- ward the houses below the hill. Attention is respectfully directed to the fact that waste of water is prohibited by law. City Ordinance No. 247 makes it unlawful to waste water in the city of Las Vegas and defines such waste as permitting water to drain from any person's prem- ises into a street, alley or road, and also prohibits the use of water in any cooling machine, without recapturing and re- using said water. The supply of water for the city of Las Vegas is received from wells and is not inexhaustible. Uniformed police officers check the city for violations of the above ordinance and I would very much appreciate your cooperation in an effort to conserve water. There is an abundance of supply for benef- icial use, but please see that it is not wasted. Yours very truly. WALTER R. BRACKEN Vice President
